West Coast fishing harbour and village named after Sir Robert Lambert, commander of the Cape naval station (1820-21). The bay was the scene of the only 'naval action' during the South African War (1899-1902), when a rading commando under Gen. JBM Hertzog opened fire on a British ship. This seafood mecca is in the heart of crayfish country.
