The Strand is a popular holiday destination with wide, sandy beaches for swimming, surfing and fishing or just for strolling on the beach.
Strand is situated about 40 minutes drive from the Cape Town city centre and about 20 minutes drive from Cape TownInternationalAirport. The white sand beach of Strand (meaning beach in Afrikaans), is a water sports magnet - ideal for sailing, surfing, fishing, water-skiing, windsurfing, swimming and excellent sunbathing. The beaches are flanked by a promenade of cafés, restaurants and shops as well as an entertainment area with putt-putt, water slide, tidal pool and heated Olympic-sized swimming pool. Sundays the beachfront comes alive when traders and crafters set up a flea market on the Promenade. For the keen golfer there´s the excellent 18 hole Golf Course and Driving range in close proximity. A visit to the LwandleMigrantLabourMuseum and Arts and Crafts Centre is well worth it. Visitors have a variety of guest houses, self-catering units and bed and breakfast establishments to choose from.
